Metabolism

Metabolism is doing my head in,
I look at it every day
but I think I've broken the back of it
doing it My Way.

Jellies need to respire
to grow and to feed
My work seems to show
they can get what they need.

Maybe I've looked at it wrongly
processing all those numbers,
but I hope that I understand
all that it encumbers.

Its all to do with Carbon,
efficiency of uptake;
And at each level some is lost
Dissolving in the lake.

Now to try again
with a different species
If it all goes to pot this time,
I'll end up in the faeces!
