Ship aground

Thinking of climbing,
anything but work.
Why today?
Why do I shirk?

What am I doing?
Is the way not clear?
Don’t I have a deadline
of which to fear?

Decisions Decisions
writing or data,
the one unchosen
must surely come later.

For later is better,
Thoughts run clearer,
as the objective
draws ‘ere nearer.

For now I’ll try
a different tack.
May the winds blow fair
or strength I’ll lack.

And so back to climbing
thoughts come around.
Progress little,
Ship run aground.

Inspirational Music

Music has the power to inspire and absorb. A friend recently reminded me of Pink Floyd. To me the Division Bell album contains some wonderful tracks. Two of the best, in my opinion are included here:

Can't Concentrate

Can’t
Concentrate,
Something is
Wrong.

Bad day
In the Office
Why is it
Sooo Long?

Distraction
Required,
Help me,
Please!

Get me out
From this place,
What I need
Are trees.

Fresh air,
Blue sky,
Birds singing
Space.

So much
Better
Out of
That Place!

Anyone for lunch?

Still fancy a wander?
Say when and where,
Sometime around lunch
and I’ll see you there!

To scrunch and munch
is the aim of lunch,
but munch or natter
the aim does not matter!

The sun is shining and birds are singing,
clients stress and phones are ringing;
Get yourself away from it all,
just pick up your coat and give me a call..

The Worm

A trip to The Worm comes fraught with peril,
be you in Scarpa, Nike or Merrell.
The problem you see comes not from the sky
but the live-giving blood of fish, and fry.
To cross the rocks, they must be clear,
Swim you must not; or Die, I fear.

Coastguards watch close, advice for all
“Come back in good time, or chopper we’ll call”
Rough seas, horses of white
Algae on rocks, black as night
Jellies hidden, somewhere near,
To the South maybe, view unclear.

Peregrine male, whistling past,
just a quick glimpse, going so fast.
Guillimott are here already, thinking of nests
Little ledges and tight corners, for them they're best.
Scavengers are searching for meal of chick,
mobbed by crows plunging like a brick.

Wings flap, waves crash,
eroding the rock, naturally - Smash.
Gulls call, guns fire,
sounds contrasting, may conspire
at the tip of the Worm, mark this wild place
where sun and rain, in turn, sculpt the face.

The Worm it lives, of that I’m sure
–        I’ve seen the breath, heard the snore.
So take a trip to The Worm, with my blessing go
For memorable it will be, in sun or snow.
Some things are natural, we must accept
For memories of this place ‘ere be kept.

Beans Beans

My diet at present
is completely free,
of the devilish bean
known as Coffee.

Many are addicted
Chocolate's the worst;
but for me, from trees
fruit and nuts burst.

Stimulants all, helping
us through the day.
A cup of tea's the worst
frequently you pay!

Walking the corridors
Time after time;
Anyone would think
peeing was a crime!

A lesson to be learned
sooner is best.
Plan your drinking well
& give your legs a rest.

A Friend

My friend is a friend
that I don't want to lend.
Bounce, bounce, happy pounce,
Prim & Proper, not a trounce.

So if you not a poodle be,
what in the world do I see?
A friendly face, a happy smile,
a person to walk with many mile.

Friends need a friend,
In sad times and joy,
upon whom to depend
for comfort or decoy.

Near or far, lost of found,
either way; I'll still be around.
As for the future who can tell?
Hopefully, I'll know You well.
